Educational technology is described by many people including those in the field of education in terms of audio visual aids, educational media, educational communication.

The term “educational technology” is also being associated with some terms which includes: audio visual aids, graphic arts, cinematography, photography, educational broadcasting (radio and television), teaching aids, technological products, and designing and production of instructional materials to mention a few.

Agun and Imogie (1988) defined educational technology as the application of media born out of the communication revolution through the production and use of quite a range of variety of electronic information carriers, projection and amplification.

In 1970, it was defined as the systematic way of designing, carrying out and evaluating a total process of learning in terms of specific objectives based on the research on human and non human resources to bring about the more effective instruction.

Association of Educational communication Technologists (AECT) in 1972 defined educational technology as a field involved in the facilitation of human learning through the systematic identification development organisation and the utilisation of the full range of learning resources and the management of these resources.

Also in 1979, AECT defined educational technology as a complex integrated process involving people, procedures, ideas, devices, organisations for analysing problems. Also implementing,evaluating and managing solutions to those problems involved in all aspects of human learning.

AECT (2008) defined educational technology as the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating appropriate technological processes and resources.
