Basic Ethics

1. -Ethics is science: ethics is a form of science in the sense that, the subject matter of ethics can be studied rationally and systematically and it aid to reach conclusions that are exact.

Ethics is concerned with the application of normative predicate of right and wrong, good and bad etc. these evaluative terms are normally used to express claims or blames, judgment usually assigned to people or acts according to one standard or the other. The subject matter of ethics is Human Action. The reason for treating the subject matter of ethics on human action is because it is presupposed that only human being has prerequisite rational capacity to make few choices in their conducts, only human being acquire ownership because we can rationally choose, we human being acquire ownership of our responsibility for reasonably foreseen consequence. The predication of right and wrong of human action presupposes the indication of moral responsibility presupposes capacity to exercise freedom to choose how to behave, that capacity is powered, facilitated by rationality.

MORALITY

According to Quine W.V.O morality is irreducibly social, morality is essentially necessarily a social matter. It has to be a social affair. Going by Boylan’s definition, we can pick out ethics that fall outside the concern of ethics.

1. –Merely prudential consideration e.g. certain lifestyle choices provided that they are not harmed or benefits under such practice.

3. –Activities of non-human entities: ethics deals with the study if humans so inanimate object and animals do not fall under the concern of ethics. Human act, non-entities react. Only humans can process stimuli. Non-human entities act on instinct.
4. –Human conducts or activities that aren’t a result of free rational deliberation of choices e.g. human before the age of major

In general, African consideration don’t apply to things or activities beyond human capability whether physical, psychological, emotional intellectual or spiritual capability.
