The causes of corruption include but are not limited to the following:

- Greed and lack of contentment;
- Poverty (not primarily, as poor people do not have access to public properties);
- Lack of education;
- Bad governance;
- Representation of personal interests by public office holder;
- Anxiety and uncertainty for the future;

- Lack of high ethical and moral standard.
